The Prince of Wales Plans to Join COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil
The Prince of Wales will represent the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, as confirmed by royal officials.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a gathering ahead of the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.
The King and Prince were in attendance at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the UK government.
Environmental Advocacy Commitment
The King has been a longstanding advocate of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be taking place in South America before the UN meeting.
Palace insiders have portrayed Prince William's attendance at the forthcoming conference as taking on an crucial position in "climate diplomacy".
Previous Activities
The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were greeted attendees such as environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.
This participation featured addresses together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.
Environmental Prize Connection
The UN meeting will coincide with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he joins the climate conference on November 6th.
Recently the royal figure characterized the Earthshot finalists as "contemporary champions".
Royal Climate Legacy
The monarch has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"I have spent a significant amount of my life trying to alert people to the survival risks confronting humanity over climate change, global temperature increases and biodiversity loss," the King told attendees.
